Investiture

Today was our council investiture. It was certainly an unforgettable experience for me and many others. We were going to be badged and deemed as full fletched councillers. I have been waiting hard and long for this time when we would be rightfully acknowledged as councillers of our school. It has been a harsh road down to this day. It was not easy to balance council duties with our school work. But all of us that were badged, we succeeded.
It was pretty nervous as I went up on stage with the other concillers to receive our badges. The spotlights were harsh on us and laughter was amidst the crowd. To make things worse, I have to constantly worry about whether my tie was straight or not. The presence of our principal sitting right in front of us did not help reduce the butterflies within me, but instead, multiplied them to an unmountable multitude.
Yet, screw-ups were just so common in major events like this. We had ours when we were supposed to view our council video and also, sing the council song, 21 Guns. Its a really nice song which all of us councillers loved. Back to the point, the video was unable to load and we were standing there like a bunch of bimbos doing nothing. Fortunately, our HSC took the initiative to start cheers and slowly, the sheer number of cheers we did to cover our screw-ups was unimaginable. Our voices were a little hoarse after that.
It actually made me think if I could still carry out the school tour. Well, surprises tend to pop up in the least of our expectations. Yet, before the school tour, we actually had to inform all the schools that there were booths to let them go to if they deem a need for a school tour. I was a little shy at first, but with the encouragement of the other councillers, I managed to do it. I asked a total of six of seven schools! Yeah!
So after we informed the schools about the booths and school tours, we returned to our own booths. There, I found myself immediately attached to a school. I was supposed to have partner counciller but he went to the restroom and never rejoined our group. At the start I was a little nervous but the students were great and they never really pressed me. Slowly, we began talking about other stuff then just introducing them to the major architectures in our school. It was truly memorable. We even exchanged contacts and hopefully we could keep in touch.
Yet, because of that I did not go for my EP3. There was actually competition training going on and I felt bad about not going. There were my seniors working hard for the competition and here I was enjoying myself at the investiture. I told myself that when I went for training tomorrow, I would put in double the effort. I want to let my seniors have an excellent last competition before they leave the EP3.
So thats all for now. I've decided to share a quote every time I make a post.
~ Challenges do not limit us, limit challenges we do!
